A Preliminary Study of Sports Picture Books applied on High School Special Education Students’ Sports Cognition and Sports Learning Interests

Abstract

The development about cognition, personality, morality, and life could be promoted on picture books (Lin & Wu, 2014). In the past picture books were widely used in special education areas such as, life education (Peng, 2013), social skills (Tsai, 2014), and gender education (Chang, 2014). Nevertheless the utilization in the special physical education field of application is generally seldom. Based on the concept of ICF in special education, students have an equitable opportunity to participate in activities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the reading and usage of picture books by special educational students to gain an interest of sports. Vocational high school first-grade students studied by the researcher who uses 'Sport' in the teaching aim with picture books used in 3 courses a week for a duration of all study over 4 weeks. Data was collected by interview record, observation record and reflection note. The expectations of this study want to promote sports interest in special education students for enhancing the opportunity to take part in sport activity study.
