Abstract
This presentation discusses the findings from the case study on the adaptation of international students enrolling in degree programs at Ubon Ratchathani University (UBU), Thailand. The purpose of this research is to explore their problems and adaptation to new learning environment. The participants of this qualitative study are international students in ASEAN countries including Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines and Vietnam. This study draws upon individual interviews as a primary source of data. The other data sources are supplementary for triangulation and validation of the emerging themes. In addition, Grounded Theory is adopted for data analysis and interpretation. The results from this study reveals challenges, difficulties, issues or problems that the international students have encountered while studying at UBU. Adaptation strategies they adopted to overcome their problems are also highlighted.
