The Action Research of Synthesizing Lessons of Suitable Radio Program for Children in the East of Thailand

Abstract

This paper contains three objectives, which are (i) to examine present styles and contents of the appropriate radio programs for the children and teenagers, (ii) to study the children and teenagers' behaviors and preference when they select a channel to receive pieces of information. The data has been collected by the ‘Focus Group Discussion.' The current radio programs for the children and teenagers are being broadcasted by the radio broadcasting of Thailand, a branch in Chonburi on F.M. channel of 99.75 megahertz. Found that the most of the current broadcasting programs are appropriately for the teenagers. Apart from the aforementioned radio programs, Wi-Tha-Yu-Chum-Chon-Ban-Na does not provide any programs in relation to the children and teenagers, but allows the children to operate some parts of the program by themselves. In relation to the behaviors of the audience, the study discovered that the children are less interested in listening to the radio programs, comparing to other mediums. Most of the samples listened to the programs at home. Many of them listened through their computers, personal mobile phones and radios in the cars. The samples are most interested in the music program. The second rating for their interest is the general news and knowledge. In relation to the preference of the samples, the study found that the children and teenagers most preferred the music program. They stated their preference to listen to the disc jockeys (DJs) who speak less and deliver the talks pleasingly and smoothly. It is permitted to contain parts of knowledgeable information. The secondarily preferred mode of their preference is the story-telling, which partially consists of ethics and possibly includes variety features of short interviews, current-affairs, general knowledge and amenities.
