Abstract
Learning vocabulary through gamification is effective in enhancing English as a Foreign Language. Gamification platforms could help in creating an active learning environment in the language classroom. This study examines the efficacy of using a gamification platform to enhance learners' vocabulary. This study applied a quasi-experimental approach, and pre-tests and post-tests were conducted for experimental and control groups. A total of 60 students studying in secondary schools have participated in this study. The participating teacher applied a gamification platform for the experimental group, while the control group was taught using the usual methods. The SPSS program was used to analyze the data collected from this study. The result revealed that there was a significant change between the control and experimental groups since the experimental group performed better in the vocabulary post-test. This result indicates to that a gamification platform could enhance vocabulary knowledge in EFL learning. This study recommends using gamification platforms since they could have a considerable effect on enhancing vocabulary learning and creating a positive environment in EFL classrooms.
