The professional development of faculty members is considered a strategic priority at both global and local levels due to its prominent and long-lasting impact. A faculty member’s professional and knowledge development reflects a dynamic ability to meet the rapidly growing and changing demands of the 21st century. Self-professional development is distinct from other professional development approaches due to its flexibility in time, place, and content, in addition to its diverse tools, methods, and techniques. It moves beyond the narrow traditional scope of workshops and training courses to embrace continuous and sustainable learning and the concept of lifelong education. This paper aims to identify modern approaches and strategies related to faculty members’ self-professional development through reviewing the relevant literature addressing self-Professional development across different sectors, with emphasis on the educational field. The review reveals several strategies that can be categorized into five main domains: psychological strategies, scientific strategies, research strategies, behavioral strategies, and technological alignment strategies.
