Nowadays referred to information age, technology which is a tangible form of information has affected life deeply and art education has been affected from this, too. Today information technology, making education independent of time and space, is indispensable for art education. Besides some advantages of information technology t, it has been discussed that there are possible limitations, too. To clarify this discussion, the views of instructors teaching art training and students learning art training can be important clues. This study aims to determine instructors and students’ views about advantages and limitations of using information technology and evaluate these views according to different variables. The study was conducted at İnönü and Fırat universities in the academic year of 2013-2014 with the participation of instructors teaching at fine arts faculty and final year students. Data conducted with mixed model were gathered through questionnaire and interview forms and were analysed with SPSS and content analysis. The analysis indicated that using information technology has advantages as well as limitations. While these advantages can be exemplified as supporting communication in the class, facilitating access to information and providing rich examples; limitations can be summarized as making difficult to attending the lesson, reducing creativity and accustoming not to produce. The study also indicated that instructors and students’ views could be vary in studying according to demographic variables. In the study, it has been concluded that using information technology in art education should be discussed multidimensional and it is needed new program or arrangements about this issue.
