Abstract
This workshop provides a brief overview of pertinent research and major theories related to communicating with people of different cultural backgrounds, as well as fun and useful techniques and strategies to use when counseling individuals, couples, and families; teaching in international or multinational classrooms; working or consulting in international or multinational school offices, companies, and organizations. The workshop will conclude with a training in a new approach to one of the most common intercultural communication exercises—the D.I.E. (describe, interpret, evaluate). Workshop Description: - Objectives and expected outputs Participants will be able to: 1. gain knowledge of pertinent research related to intercultural communication; 2. understand the importance of major theories related to intercultural communication; and 3. incorporate activities and strategies to enhance communication and productivity in multinational and multicultural educational institutions, small businesses, corporations and organizations. - Focal areas and issues 1.
