Abstract
The purpose of the research study was to develop international professional qualification standards in computer for academic personnel of Rajamangala University of Technology (RMUT). The objectives of the research study were (1) to develop the international professional qualification standards and (2) to evaluate the appropriateness of the standards. The samples comprised eighteen experts from nine universities of Rajamangala University of Technology. The experts were selected by simple random sampling to evaluate the appropriateness of the international professional qualification standards in computer field for academic personnel of RMUT. The research methods were (1) conducting the document research and (2) conducting a focus group of experts from RMUT and industry sector. . The research results found that the international professional qualification standards in computer field consisted of two parts: (1) the Certificate Level and (2) the Functional Competencies. For the first part, the Certificate Level consisted of three levels which were Basic Level (four certificates), Specialist Level (six certificates), and Professional Level (eight certificates). The opinions of the experts toward the appropriateness of all three levels were good. The second part: the Functional Competency consisted of five competencies which were: (1) have knowledge, (2) pass the training, (3) pass the test of certificate, (4) able to teach, and (5) able to train. The experts' opinions toward competency (3), (4), and (5) were good. However, their opinions toward competency (1) and (2) were fair.
