The Quilombola School and the Confrontation of Prejudice: A Management Experience in a Riverine-Quilombola Community

Abstract

The discussions developed in this article are part of an experiment on the management of a quilombola school located in a community remaining in the city of Abaetetuba, State of Para. Since this is a school that is located in a territory that attends quilombolas students and others who are not remaining quilombolas some situations of racial discrimination between parents and students were experienced by the school principal who took initiative through dialogue to overcome this situation. As a research methodology this article was based on a qualitative research through observation, interviews and analysis of documents. The main considerations are presented for the work that the management of Quilombo School involves sensitivity to perceive community problems, take them to the school community where should discussed and decided.
