Implementations of Knowledge Management as a Strategy for Improving Competitiveness of Higher Education Organization (Aplication Reseach of Soft System Methodology for Higher Education Organization)

Abstract

Impact of globalization on the organization, reactive to changes in the environment and able to respond to the challenges faced. Environmental organizations affected by cultural factors, technological, educational, political, legal, natural resources, and social and economic demographics. Implementation of knowledge management in education be the deciding factor as well as the competitiveness of the organization changes. One of the concepts developed in knowledge management is knowledge creation. To explain the organization refer to concept SECI knowledge creation of Nonaka & Takeuchi (1995) as theory of reference to measure how the organization will continue to grow, learn and have knowledge. The impact of globalization changes to university in Garut district in Indonesia requires the individual to innovate and sharing the knowledge. Sampel in this research is two private universities located in Garut-West Java Indonesia, their have implemented knowledge management in different approach. For collecting data this research using: interview (with the Dean of faculty, lecturer, administration staf, student), study document literature. The research methodology used kualitatif approach and Soft Systems Methodology (SSM) with CATWOE approach from Checkland and Pourter (2006).
