Abstract
This research focuses on the AMAE Educando Magazine, a pedagogical publication central to teacher training in the state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. The magazine was created within the Institute of Education of Minas Gerais (IEMG), a flagship public teacher-training school located in Belo Horizonte, the state capital. Founded in 1946, the IEMG was initially an exclusive school for young women from the elite, renowned for its high-quality teacher preparation. From this influential institution emerged the AMAE Educando Magazine in 1967. Its primary mission was to disseminate the content of the Pedagogical Journeys organized by the IEMG's School Administration Course, thereby creating a vital bridge between teachers in the capital and those in the vast and often isolated interior regions of Minas Gerais. The magazine circulated for an impressive 46 years, producing 400 issues. This study aims to understand how the AMAE Educando Magazine fulfilled its formative function for teachers across Minas Gerais and how it consolidated itself as a key communication channel between the capital and the countryside. To achieve this, the research employs qualitative document analysis of the magazine's foundational years (1967–1972). It examines articles on teacher training, reports from the Pedagogical Journeys, and readers' letters. Preliminary findings indicate that it served as a powerful tool for disseminating pedagogical knowledge, creating a professional network, and standardizing training practices statewide. In conclusion, this magazine was not merely a publication but a cultural and educational artifact fundamental to understanding the history of teacher training and regional integration in Brazil.
