Musicianship for Trombone Musician Profession in a Symphony Orchestra

Abstract

The purpose of the study “Musicianship for Trombone Musician Profession in Symphony Orchestra” is to study skill, technique of Trombone and musicianship for Trombone Musician Profession in Symphony Orchestra. This research is Qualitative research, collective data by interview from the musician in Symphony Orchestra and music teachers in universities total 17 persons and analyzed by content analysisThe research result has shown that 1) skill for Trombone musicians were able to play the songs from trombone method books at least basic to advance such as rudiments for trombone, breathing, major-minor Chromatic Scale, syncopation, ornaments, tonguing, double tonguing, triple tonguing, lips slur skill, sight reading and basic skill other from trombone method or new song sheets accurately and quickly. The special techniques of trombone are trombone orchestra excerpt, slur and glissando in trombone manner; The Trombone musicians must be responsible for both practicing and time managing. That is very important for Trombone musicians’ profession.
